Hmmm... I did not know that.

I typically eat the "full fat" stuff anyway.

It seems that probably the best way to lose wait is not to focus on the fat, but instead the calories, am I right? (I probably should try to lose some to get me down to a bit more healthy weight, but man it is hard).

But you also have to focus on what kind of reactions your insulin is having because that will affect your energy and hunger levels. Sugar and simple carbohydrates get digested quickly, your body puts out extra insulin fast to bring down the blood glucose levels. Then you're blood sugar drops and you feel weak and hungry again so you want more food. You have to work at keeping glucose/insulin levels in a slower balance ----but carbs aren't bad right before a work-out when you're planning on burning glucose ---sometimes you need carbs, but you don't need them for watching television.

Yup, just look at a bottle of regular ranch dressing vs a bottle of fat free. There is double the sugar in the fat free. Gotta do something to make up the taste.

Best way to lose weight is lower caloric intake and up caloric burn (eat better and exercise). However trading fat grams for carbs will lower your total caloric intake, it does cause the longer term health issues of Type 2 etc from carb loading.

So lowering carb and sugar intake and exercising helps, fat reduction helps as well, as fat per gram has the highest amongs of calories. However fats do need to be processed to be turned into glucose, Sugars need very little and carbs need not much more. Avoid those 2 things and body is forced to burn stores easier.

At least that's my laymens understanding of the process.
