Very interesting.

A while ago there were a couple of articles about highly radioactive material having been found by Marines at Al Tuwaitha. Then the UN chimed in that they knew all about it, but I guess they didn't.

This looks to me like a smoking gun. Saddam was not supposed to have nuclear material, except what was sealed by the UN and of course he wasn't supposed to touchthat.

Here is the link to the earlier article, which sounded pretty convincing to me. The Marines found some underground area which the UN didn't know about.

Not really.

There's a distinction between nuclear WEAPONS material and nuclear material.

I wonder if Tuwaitha was a centrifuge cascade. They are used to seperate the 238 from the 235. Unless there is another need for the isotopes that Im not aware of, and it was indeed a cascade ala Oak Ridge, then yes, I would agree this is the smoking gun.

"There's a distinction between nuclear WEAPONS material and nuclear material."
---

"After a quick inspection at what military authorities call the "Yellowcake Facility" a few hundred meters offsite, the Army specialists told the Marines they suspect Al-Tuwaitha harbors weapons-grade plutonium. "

And here is more:

"Two initial tests -- one by the Marines and the other conducted on April 10 by a scout team from the Pentagon's Defense Threat Reduction Agency -- suggested that the water contained bomb-grade plutonium mixed with uranium from earlier weapons production. They told the Marines to start guarding "Yellow Cake" until a conclusive third test for plutonium could be conducted. "

Well, remember Saddam was buying tubes which could be used in such centrifuges, and that is what people suspected he was trying to do.

GRRRRRR !!!

although Bush says the discovery of two trailers crammed with germ-growing equipment proves Iraq had a biological weapons program.

"Bush says" ??? How about THE EVIDENCE SAYS !!

"Bush says" implies that he's just saying that, and we're simply to believe his word. It should have been written:

"However, the discovery of two trailers crammed with germ-growing equipment, which have been examined by multiple scientific experts, has proven that Iraq had a biological weapons program."

Great observation. Everytime I read an article, I see all sorts of inuendo strewn about, the sole purpose of which is try to knock the administration, Christians, or conservatives.

Another example in this article, although maybe only a minor point, but the word "looting" is used instead of stolen, because looting implies it was done on our watch, it should have been expected and we should have prevented it. It is especially inappropriate when the stuff was stolen or removed prior to us even getting there.

The area in question has been found to have unbelievable high levels of radioactivity. From certain 'elements' that were NOT ever identified to be at the site.

The UN is about to prove our point. Unwillingly, but none the less, they WILL prove the point.....which is why Blix said that they needed more time and we should give the current searchers more time.......BLIX KNOWS........

I think you are right.
Saddam had plenty of money and apparently he spread it around to the right places, and there were many takers.

I read that some documents found in Iraq showed that El Baradei(sp?), the head of the IAEA has been on Saddam's payroll, so why not Blix?

Nuclear facilities? But the media (including AP) says that there is no evidence of WMDs in Iraq! Nobody's talking out both sides of their mouth here, eh?

Great collection!

It really is amazing that people ignore this vast amount of evidence and still claim there were no WMD in Iraq.
