MODESTO, CALIFORNIA – Stanislaus County District Attorney James C. Brazelton responded today to media reports that autopsy results from the Peterson case have been allegedly leaked to the media.

Since the autopsy results have been sealed by court order, the District Attorney’s Office cannot verify the accuracy of any media statements concerning the contents of the autopsy reports without violating the court’s order. In direct response to this latest development, however, the District Attorney’s Office will be filing a motion to withdraw their opposition to the sealing of the autopsy reports.

It continues to be the view of the District Attorney that the evidence in this case should be presented in court through the testimony of witnesses and not selectively leaked to the news media by unknown persons whom the press will not identify. Therefore, there will be no other comments or interviews made at this time and phone calls regarding this issue will Not be returned.

Some tricky wording here. Until today, I understood the DA to be in favor of the sealing of the autopsy reports. This statement seems to say that they had been opposed to the sealing of the autopsy reports. But now they are for the sealing of the reports. Right?
