Here we go again. The Republican firsters' excuse for every sell out is, "Well, it's better than Clinton. You want to elect a Democrat?" You don't have to elect democrats when the republicans for whom you vote enthusiastically implement liberal legislation.
The Regan Revolution occurred under a democratically controlled Congress. That didn't stop Regan. The '94 Congress got Welfare Reform across Clinton's desk. Bush has a Republican House and Sentate. So what's your excuse? Do we need 60 conservatives in the Senate before we demand a conservative domestic agenda?
Rush is spot-on when he characterizes Bush's domestic agenda as socialism-lite. Although it's not in this article, he was also spot-on when he pointed out that none of the conservative media that is praising Bush have mentioned his domestic agenda.
Bush's tax cut plan is great although he wasn't able to get the full package he wanted which seems ridiculous given his poll numbers and the congressional make-up. Nonetheless, it's only going to come back to bite us in the proverbial arse when spending goes up year after year under total Republican control.
The federal government has too much power, too much regulation of our personal and business lives and too much social spending (socialism). Anyone who increases the scope and funding of the federal government is implementing socialism, whether it be at the democrat's full kilter or the republican's trot. There is no such thing as a permanent tax cut when spending increases (over inflation) every single year.

I hear enough people whine about how the GOP keeps increasing spending but very few who have truly studied the matter and have concrete ideas on how to cut spending without offending the electorate and get thrown out of office.
To: thedugal
Even Ronald Reagam whom I admire tremendously played the game. Did farm subsidies disappear under Reagan? Who signed into law the infamous Boland Amendment? Who signed appropriations containing huge domestic spending into law during those years that created the huge deficit? Who allowed the affirmative action program in government to increase by leaps and bounds in the 80s?
Your desire for a huge turnaround in government is only a pipe dream. It will, unfortunately, never happen. If Bush believes he is truly the president for all the people, then he is by definition going to take stands unpopular to some groups.
He has held well on the tax cut, won two combat actions against tremendous world opinion, killed Kyoto, killed our participation in the World Court, is taking a strong stand against affirmative action, has pushed faith based funding. So please don't tell me we need to get rid of him, when the only alternative will be a Democrat, who will obviously undo all of that.
And again Rush was not slamming Bush in that segment. As I indicated, Rush ended it by praising Bush as a true conservative. What is clear is that folks on both ends of the political spectum will be highly dissatisfied with whomever occupies the white house.

Is the Tax Cut for Real?"The Bush administration inherited a federal budget of $1.86 trillion, and now proposes to spend $2.3 trillion in 2004, for a whopping 23.6 percent increase in federal spending in this short period. The Bush presidency has far outspent Clinton's in every category. As Cato's Chris Edwards says, "[B]ased on his first three budgets, President Bush is the biggest spending president in decades." To close the gap between spending and revenue, said a report commissioned by the US Treasury, would require an "immediate and permanent 66 percent across-the-board income tax increase."

"praising Bush as a true conservative."
Doublespeak by the right. Bush is not a true conservative, he is closer to Clinton domestically (The Republican third way) with sole exception of a teeny, tiny tax cut and the cojones to use military force correctly. Actually, the Republicans did vote a few years ago to end farm subsidies...but they voted them right back in last year.

The fine art of using life's manure to grow beautiful roses
Criticism, like manure, abounds in our world. The trick in dealing with it is to try not to step in it, and "cut" your spirit. We may learn the fine art of growing beautiful roses in beds of manure. This will enable us to say to our critics: "If you can find nothing better to do, bring on the manure; I know how to use it."

I didn't say GROW roses from manure.
I said how do you make manure smell like roses....a task you say you are going to attempt.
Of course, when you do, you will lose 100% of your credibility.....or what small fraction as still might exist. (I think it is totally gone, but those few souls who join you in your Bash-Bush rants will see how diaphanous your "self-defined gift" is)

It isn't me that is selling the conservatives out it is many republicans and many times it is Bush. So it is his credibility that is on line if he keeps doing idiot things.
I just point them out when he and republicans stray to the LEFT!

Bush is not a true conservative Well, Rush seems to think he is. As for the teeny, tiny tax cut, it beats a sharp stick in the eye. It would be interesting to see just who all you anti-Bush conservatives will vote for next year...
To: MACVSOG68
Analysts that I have heard say that teensy tax cut will actually turn out to be more like 800 billion, rather than the 350 billion reported.
Yep.....that GWB is sure one dumb cluck!
And I concur....I want to hear more about this perfect conservative candidate that will get these votes.

No matter how many times you say it, everybody here knows you are anti-Bush.
Nobody asking you to support him; in fact, we don't want support like yours, full of innuendos and false accusations.
I'm glad you're not a republican OR a conservative.
