Very true.
What is so tragic about this case is that the woman has NO CHOICE ... she is being forced to have the abortion because she is "incapable" of choosing. The trauma she will experience we may never know ... but at 24 weeks, the baby is moving and kicking and she most definitely feels something inside her. Maybe she doesn't know what, but to have it ripped from her seems to me to be cruel and unusual punishment on a woman who has already suffered through rape.
I was talking with a pro-life friend today and reminded her that unborn babies have the same classification as blacks -- they are not "persons" in a court of law. Taking that a step further, I believe it was the 3/5th law where a black was considered 3/5th a person. Unborn babies are treated the same way ... if the mother WANTS the baby, the baby is a person (i.e. Lacy Peterson); if the mother DOESN"T WANT the baby, the baby isn't a person, it's a blob of tissue.
Just because 150 years ago some people -- and the law -- said that blacks weren't persons, didn't make black people simple "blobs of tissue". They were and are human beings. Just like preborn babies.
God bless all babies, born and unborn, that they may have life and enjoy the wonders of His infinite grace and mercy.
He's right. This incident is tragic, but not surprising.
