"...will focus largely how his race and substance abuse played a significant role in his downfall from the TIMES! "

Let's see. His downfall is because he is a black junkie? OK

5 pages is 4 pages too much. If he can't condense his proposal, no one will read it due to no one being able to read his book. Especially the editor.

He still is lying.
Dear Mr. Blair: actions have consequences. Take responsibility for your life.

He said his actions were part of a pattern of destructive behaviors that stemmed from the stresses of journalism.

How about they stemmed from a lack of scruples? Whatever happened to having a sense of shame over one's own wrongdoing? Let's see...do I kill myself or make a killing by writing a book. What a jerk!

“Both racial preferences and racism played a role. And I would argue that they didn't balance each other out. Racism had much more of an impact."

Hmm aren't racial preferences racism.?

“I want to offer my experience as a lesson, for the precipice from which I plunged is one on which many young, ambitious, well-educated and accomplished African Americans and other “minorities” teeter...."

What a Class A-1 Jerkoff this jerkoff is. He's an amoral creep who thinks he's clever. He'll make a fine Democrat candidate for national political office....

Howell Green Was My Valley, or Baby, Sometimes the Raines Must Fall.
An Autobiography by Jayson Blair
As Told to Janet Cooke

It was a dark and stormy night. Suddenly a shot rang out.

As I dove for cover, I saw John Malvo spit out a grape stem as he and his cohort drove off in their sniper mobile. Around me the people of Maryland lay low, fearing another shot.

My attention was drawn to a young blonde in an army uniform. She stood tall among the cowering populace as she carefully took aim at the fleeing snipers. As she began to squeeze the trigger, John Ashcroft knocked the weapon down.

"Ah jes' know I coulda stopped 'em," she said in a distinctive West Virginia accent.

Ashcroft turned to her, "We need the chaos. It works to my advantage." As he moved to his limo, he added, "Remember, we have bigger plans for you. You'll get your chance."

Soon after, I would make the first of many visits to the Lynch farm.....

This is good: '“It does appear a bit complicated and unseemly,” said Mr. Rosenthal...", one of the publishing poobahs quoted in the article about the possibility of publishing this flyer of Blair. Mr. Rosenthal is a sensitive soul.
I haven't seen anybody rebound like this since Jesse Jackson went into meditation mode after being outed as the father of the baby of his "aide"! Remarkable recuperative powers, Mr. Blair.

NYT REPORTER: I WAS GOING TO KILL MYSELF

How? By shooting yourself in the foot until you bled to death?

What an asshole.

Too bad NY has banned guns. Then Blair could have finished the job.

What a worthless piece of human scum he is.

"I want to offer my experience as a lesson, for the precipice from which I plunged is one on which many young, ambitious, well-educated and accomplished African Americans and other ?minorities? teeter, though most, of course, do manage to pull back from the brink. That precipice overhangs America?s racial divide; and the winds sucking us down into the chasm (cultural isolation, professional mistrust, and the external and internal imperatives to succeed, at all costs, to name a few) can be too strong for the troubled and unprepared?as I was?to withstand.?

Couple of comments to Blair:

  1. What overwrought, self-indulgent crap. YOU DIDN'T EVEN GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE, DUMMY!
  2. He can't make up his mind whether he was:
    • a brilliant, hardened hoaxer
    • a passive, drug addled "victim," pushed around by forces beyond his control
From where I sit, the more Blair keep shooting off his mouth, the worse it becomes for BOTH him and the NYT. A pox on both their houses.
