A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC

The Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, are rated as one of the most beautiful garden displays in the world....50 acres of beautiful flowers, trees, and the most lush landscape. You can stroll through a Sunken Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, the majestic Ross Fountain and the English Rose Garden. Each garden is linked by spacious lawns, streams and Lily ponds.

Since Spring is in full bloom, and Summer is almost here, we thought it might be fun to let those who enjoy their gardens - whether flower or vegetable - do a little bragging. We can't all look out our window and see a beautiful view like the two photos above, but then, unless we had a huge full-time garden staff, we wouldn't have time to visit the Finest. :)

I don't claim to have a green thumb nor spend a lot of time digging in the ground, but this is where I enjoy early morning coffee, listening to the birds sing, and watching the goldfish. It's peaceful and quiet and relaxing. Low maintenance - ground cover and concrete and brick - that's the lazy man's garden. :)

Your turn! Let's see some of FR's Finest Gardens.

The guy's good, folks!
Thanks, Mixer!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Thank you for prayers. My poor sweetheart has had a really bad time of it for over a year now. First the Shingles in his right eye and that still hurts him all the time after 15 months. Then the bad heart attack in Nov. that they can do nothing about except meds and a Defib. And about the same time his shoulder froze up and it has been killing him with pain. He just can't catch a break. The therapy is helping his shoulder, but he is still in pain and has no energy. Not good news for a type A person.

Ha, we both read it the same way. What does that say about our minds?

Shucks, Val, I wasn't going to go there, but since you did...

We also have misses to warm up the cool desert nights...!!

Ok, she's my Missus, so I guess it's legal...! We really had fun with that last year, several people took it the same way you did, and having the fertile imaginations we do, well...it got a bit out of hand!

Wonderful comeback, Valerie - think we indeed need to add a 'mister' to our prayers for you..:))

He would certainly be getting someone very special, not to mention those fine young men.

My first 'young man' reminded me the other night, next April he will qualify for AARP membership!!!

Incredible - - -

Realized after I said that, I mixed Joe up with another poster from a previous thread..:))

But, hey - if Jinxie needs special prayer, we can say 'a need not specified' - we all have one, and God will know what it might be!

LOL

Let's just say an occasional prayer for AZ Flyboy's wife and unborn baby. They're expecting in mid-October.

I'm so glad you've had more time to spend with us, Nan.
Will catch up on side mail one day soon....but it's midnight and I need to gear down and get some sleep, that elusive commodity.

Good night, and may God bless all of you.

The Oak at Middleton is fairly young when compared with our Angel Oak on John's Island.

Have you tried gardening pots? I've grown herbs and veggies that way.
