Sorry, MMM. You're WRONG!

Gun control advocates should fear the new concealed handgun law, but not for the reason that most people think. The law allows trained, law-abiding citizens to carry concealed handguns for their protection, but despite claims that it is "radical" and "is really a conceal and kill bill," here is a prediction: A year from now Minnesota's newspapers will report that all the horror stories about letting citizens carry concealed handguns were wrong. The real loser will be gun control advocates' credibility.

And consider the two largest states with right-to-carry laws, Florida and Texas. During the 15 years after Florida's concealed-carry law took effect in October 1987, about 800,000 licenses were issued. Only 143 of these (two-hundredths of 1 percent) were revoked due to firearms-related violations.

The anti-gun groups have every reason to fear concealed-carry. As a certified CCW instructor in Kentucky (also NRA pistol certified) I can tell you that women who have no gun experience and are somewhat afraid of guns overcome that fear, make the decision to get a CCW and begin carrying. They quickly feel more secure and in control of their lives. Many decide they "like" shooting and move on into some form of recreational use of firearms.

Minn. will never be the same, if CCW passes IMO.

Too bad that fact and reason have so little impact on the Marxist Murdering Moms. We have a local chapter. They are so empty headed, they must have to stop by the gas station once a week to re-inflate their skulls.

"A year from now Minnesota's newspapers will report that all the horror stories about letting citizens carry concealed handguns were wrong."

What? Are you kidding? They'll find examples to prove it's a disaster and hype them up, while downplaying the stories supporting CCW.

Only 143 of these (two-hundredths of 1 percent) were revoked due to firearms-related violations.

What they don't tell you is that good portion of those revoked were due to temporary restraining orders & similar legal wranglings and were subsiquently returned after a week or so when the judge reversed the order.

MN passes, and the Gov'ner signed, their CCW changes last week. "Shall issue" instead of "may issue" now. Some regs got tighter, but it no longer depends on "need" and cronyism.

Now if we can just get the USSC to understand the words "Supreme law of the Land" and "shall not be infringed". Then we'd REALLY have some RKBA to be proud of....

An interesting quote from the article...

But even this statistic overstates the risks, as almost all of these cases apparently resulted from people accidentally carrying a gun into a restricted area, such as an airport. No one claims that these unintentional violations posed any harm. In general, permit-holders were model law-abiders. Even off-duty police officers in Florida were convicted of violent crimes at a higher rate than permit-holders.

Further down, they say that no police officer has been killed by someone with a CCW permit. Would that the opposite were true.

Logic, facts, reason, and reality has never been part of the anti-gunners arsenal. Instead, relying on lies and fear and assigning supernatural powers to inanimate objects and threats of school shootings to scare the soccer moms into shrilly calling for more protection from the government.

" In general, permit-holders were model law-abiders. Even off-duty police officers in Florida were convicted of violent crimes at a higher rate than permit-holders. "

One can only assume that the boogey-man is alive and well in the land of liberal hysteria.
This arguement was put to rest long ago . . .

Knowing this, I was surprised when the local news reported that a CCP holder has been arrested for a local shooting. Not so surprised when his release was left unreported -- after the shooting was found to be justified.

Too bad that fact and reason have so little impact on the Marxist Murdering Moms.

It's all about FEELINGS. I FEEL this, or I FEEL that. Once feelings are invoked in ANY issue, facts & reason take a backseat.

here is a prediction: A year from now Minnesota's newspapers will report that all the horror stories about letting citizens carry concealed handguns were wrong. The real loser will be gun control advocates' credibility.

Never happen. Not a single newspaper will let that story get past its editors. Only the "news" that advances statism is allowed to be printed. Newspaper publishers and editors only have a vague and remote interst in the trus, and certaintly won't publish it if it contradicts their cherished liberal socialist beliefs.

You cound transplant 99% of all newspaper "reporters" and editors to Hitler's Germany or Stalin's Russia, and they wouldn't see any change in their jobs.
