Lol, not one mention about Silicon Valley electing tax and spend Socialist after tax and spend socialist in EVERY district around the bay. No mention of voting in a tax and spend Socialist into EVERY significang statewide post in the last election. No mention of all the billions of $$ fleeced from venture capitalists from Silicon Valley residents during the Clinton years. No mention of the fact that if you went back to former govenor Pete Wilson's last budget, and increased it year on year at a reasonable clip, there wouldn't BE a crisis in the state at the moment. Given all this, in what way are we supposed to be sorry for these a-holes??? Better put some ice on it, Mecury News.

First, let us tell you what we don't want: a tax cut. While many in the Valley would benefit because of our generally high tax brackets, we think the money can be put to better use, like covering war costs and revenue shortfalls caused by the recession.

If they haven't yet figured out that tax cuts for those small entreprenuers who would love to grow into big companies ARE EXACTLY what they need, then it is no wonder they're still mired in the doldrums. These folks don't have a lick of sense. All they have to do is study the economy of the 80's, I mean REALLY study it, not just look at it superficially. If they did this, they'd see that the tax cuts instituted by Reagan set the stage for that great boom in the late 80's, and except for the slight recession caused when GHW Bush raised taxes, came roaring back and pushed that phenomenal growth in Silicon Valley in the 90's.

If they don't want THEIR tax cut, I'd be happy to have it!

Where's the Barf Alert? Like anyone uses the murky news for anything other than for the birdcage.

Dear Pres. W: As a San Franciscan I can tell you the Murky News is full of it.

Keep on the path you're on. You're right.

This could be a calamitous year for California schools; they're looking at a potential $5 billion cut in state aid. They'll be fortunate to hold on to their best teachers.

That’s because, in part, for years they’ve insisted on keeping the worst teachers.

I find it terribly difficult to be sympathetic.

Wow, you were lucky enough to be in President Bush's very enthusiastic audience yesterday? United Defense Industries rocks! You and the employees of UDI must be so proud to have been a part of the success of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Dubya's speech at United Defense Industries was brilliant, and he spoke from the heart. The sheeple really need to hear that speech in prime time - especially his "economics lesson" to the American people on how - specifically - his tax cuts would stimulate growth in our economy.

We are facing serious challenges to our long-term prosperity from competitors in India and China, where engineers and Ph.D.s are being minted by the thousands. We need to get back on our feet quickly, or America could lose its leadership in technology.

Tech companies are sitting on as much as $135 billion in offshore cash, from overseas profits. A 35 percent repatriation tax is keeping it there. Several bills propose a one-year reduction of that tax rate to 5.25 percent. It won't cost the Treasury a penny. More important, the cash that will be brought back under the lower tax rate will deliver an immediate stimulus to the Valley. Your support would quickly make the proposals a reality.

Other stimulus proposals we favor are extending unemployment benefits, increasing investment tax credits and accelerating depreciation.

Instead of cutting taxes, return money to the states.

California has the largest deficit of any state in the nation. It seems inevitable we're going to get hit with higher taxes -- and far fewer services.

In short, we're in a world of hurt, and we could use some help.

Somebody call a waaahhhmbulance!

Geesh, what a letter! It made my blood boil, but I'm glad you posted it for us, NormsRevenge. Thank you.

The president is the Comander in Chief, not the Economist in Chief, and even if he was, chances are he would be doing the wrong thing

Why, he has MBA and good advisors.

"...and now they have the audacity to lay it all on President Bush's doorstep."

I couldn't agree more. They just LOVE being victims in that part of this state!

They still don't get it, do they? --probably never will

Just what we need, more corporate welfare. I'd tell them to take a tin cup and get in line. Fat cats need a new week-end jet to hit the country club circuit as little earlier. Same guys that are moving their plants out want us to give them a break on bringing the money back in.

"While the national economy may be recovering, we're still in the depths of the deepest recession any of us can remember. And there isn't much hope for improvement until the national economy shifts into higher gear."

What a bunch of Bull Crap!

I just got a letter from my sister-in-law who's daughter had just made a trip to San Jose where we used to live 1961-1979. She took a picture of our house down there which we bought in 1969 for $32,000. Sold in 1979 for $120,000.

She said one across the street from where we lived JUST SOLD FOR $800,000.

We lived off of Bollinger and Miller road.

I could just kick my husband. Because he wanted a change in life we gave up his Calif. teacher retirement and a house that would have sold for that much money, to come to Washington and start a business, which we sold in 4 years and he went back to teaching here in Wa.

Thanks for the Ping job! :-)

This is an editorial that touched me in a way I just had to share.

The enemies within make no bones about their goals nor do they mask their propaganda. Rather, they work towards putting like-minded politicians and bureaucrats in position of authority and power that they are in no way deserving of.

We can make a difference but only if we educate others on their ways and excesses in defying logic.

This tripe could be best summed up as:

"Dear George: We hate you. Now go do our bidding."

Not that the Left could ever be as honest as that, but hey...

Agreeing. The bubble made real-estate unreal in price, no wonder the infrastructure is tough to pay off. It was overpriced too. Been there, done that during the oil boom in the late '70s. Hang tough folks, there'll be houses at fire sale prices, but the taxes will stay high.

As for the offshore money, 65% is better than nothing. I got a whopping $13 back out of the bucks the fed got this last year. Handle it. Cost of doin' bidness..

Thanks for the flag.

Muleskinner was so lucky. From what I saw/heard here and there, that was an exceptional speech.

Thank you, God, for GWB.
