That is highly inappropriate behavior and not very professional. He is not their Daddy. And it is not respectful.
Not half as inappropriate, unprofessional and dangerous as taking off your cranial on the flight deck. Lighten up. If the president (or the CO) is gladhanding everyone around him, then it's common courtesy to join in the relaxed atmosphere that's been ushered in.
Couldn't disagree more. It may inappropriate behavior if you're under a desk!
This was an "at ease" situation, and the President inclined his head first. We watched it all. The young women CAN look up to him as a father figure, and I might add.. he got a few arms wrapped around him by the guys too. Quite a few!
They LOVE this Commander in Chief. Considering what our troops are asked to do when the Commander in Chief says too.. I say thats a good thing.
When ending our carreer as a Aviation Battalion Commander, there were quite a few hugs from everyone. Men and women alike. It is an honor to have troops that at the end of the day, after having done all you asked, felt such love and admiration for you. That doesn't happen for every leader.
Our Commander in Chief "Gets it". Therefore, "HE" gets the respect and love he deserves.
Believe me, these same troops would serve him again..willingly!!
