Yup like my dad. Most of the time, black West Indians do not have the racial hangups that black Americans do. This is explains much of the success they achieve ahead of black Americans, not being racial, it's just true. It is a combo of growing up with white West Indies, and a number of other factors. White and black West Indians have been legally marrying for years, and so it's just different. I am not even sure I feel comfortable comparing black Americans to black West Indians anymore. It was a very different environment.

The weirdest thing is that here in South Florida, Caribbean and American blacks rarely mix socially. I can't think of any Carribean black women who date an American black males (although I'm sure there are a few). Many more of them are dating/marrying American white males.

Have you ever noticed that the nations with more sophisticated and inclusive populations have little or no television culture?

The weirdest thing is how almost all males avoid female comedians even if they are attractive. I was at a comedy club once and some good looking female comedian mentioned how when she is out on the club circuit, she can NEVER get a date. It was one of those revelations that I realized was so true. For some reason most guys would never consider dating a female comedian, no matter how attractive. I used to know a very attractive Australian female comedian but never considered hitting on her. Why? I'm not sure but it must have been because she was a comedian. For some reason guys just aren't comfortable being socially involved with female comedians. Can anybody figure that out?

One time a friend of mine was getting married in Virginia. I worked in DC at the time (WORST job I ever had) and one of the guys in the office who was black brought his black girlfriend to the wedding and the reception where I and my fellow workers also were. Anyway, (as the black co-worker told me later) his girlfriend was freaking out on the way to the wedding. She somehow expected it to be like some sort of minor league Klan rally with a bunch of white bigots angrily glaring at her for "intruding" in on the wedding party. I didn't know about that at the time. All I knew is that I noticed she was withdrawn at first which I attributed to shyness. Anyway, my usual (and in this case drunken) clowning helped removed her preconcieved fears. Plus everybody else was in an equally jovial mood which calmed her down after a while and she soon had what she later described as one her most fun days ever.
