"Im sure there are some people who will question my ethics, my objectivity, etc. Ill keep the argument short. Screw them, they werent there. But they are welcome to join me next time if they care to test their professionalism. "
Nothing like realism to injure idealism. Welcome the the world.

Now THAT is reporting. No opinions, no editorializing, no blind generalizations.
He was there. He reported what he saw and went through. THAT is what I want out of a war correspsondant.

That statement says it all. Welcome to reality. I wonder how these imbeds (other than that imbecile Koppel) will react in the future.

"they later went through the bags the Iraqi prisoners left behind to retrieve their cheap, strange-tasting smokes."
Then we went to Baghdad Baskin Robbins and pigged out on rocky road ice cream. I had extra sprinkles.

Tomorrow, I may get to bathe for the first time in over three weeks, not counting several wipe downs. Was he in Iraq or France?

I rather doubt that the three Iraqis he helped bag would have respected his objectivity. Better to be a live reporter than the subject of someone else's story about a dead journalist.

"It was here I went over to the dark side. I spotted the silhouettes of several Iraqi soldiers looking at us from the shadows 20 feet to our left. I shouted, "Theres three of the f------ right there..."
As the old saying goes: "There are no atheists in foxholes."
Those, ahem, f----- would have killed him in a heartbeat.

Fire all "news" anchors and replace them with embeds. Wouldn't you love to see Pierre Jennings replaced by this guy?

This is one of the most enjoyable articles I've ever read. It's wonderful to see that some in the journalism profession have been exposed to real life. When did "objectivism" start meaning you couldn't be pro-American? Who started that distorted version of reality? It really does need to go away.
