Actor Tim Robbins pleaded with listeners at the National Press Club yesterday to "defy the intimidation that is visited upon us daily in the name of national security and warped notions of patriotism" after calling some members of the press "Aussie gossip rags" and "talk-radio patriots."

Well, this is what I posted on another thread where Greybird was calling another person a hypocrite as well.

Greybird made some false assumptions and called me a hypocrite on another thread, also linking me with the likes of Robbins. He/she has made up his/her mind and any debate on the subject is useless.

To answer your questions, I was not born until after WWII, but would have stood behind the "Democratic" President Roosevelt.

I was around during Vietnam (my husband spent a year in country in 1970-71) and I saw what was happening. I supported another set of "Democratic" Presidents (Kennedy and Johnson) during that war, though I could see that Johnson didn't have the will to win. The Americans were not given the support (especially back home with the massive protests and media bias against the war effort) and tools they needed to decisively win; and they were even hampered by having to fight by rules that the opposition didn't follow.

I know what it is like to send a loved one into harm's way and worry about that next "knock on the door" and whether it brings bad news.

I don't believe that wars should be contemplated lightly; but once our country is involved in a war, everything possible must be done to make sure we win that war.

I disagreed with ex-president Clinton's war efforts because he abused the power of his office in order to change media attention from his scandalous and corrupt behavior. He weakened our military and laid the groundwork for escalating terrorist attacks on the US at home and abroad (that's my opinion).

I heard Robbins on the Radio today.
He way in which he spoke made me think that he
was deliberately attempting to sound like FDR.

Whatever exists in your nonsensical mind, the US will defend herself in an agressive manner. Those against it are just pissin in the wind, because these things will come to pass. You and your opinion can go to hell as far as I am concerned. And that's the God's honest truth.
