Excellent argument. W certainly needs good debaters like you.
To: rintense; A Vast RightWing Conspirator
Yes, it's quite obvious now that it's an attempted trap.
But that's OK.....with what's going on in the real world (with which this poor fellow obviously has NO contact)...... with the tragedy of years of totalitarian brutality just having been ended by the liberation of an oppressed people......people not incidentally oppressed by one who worshiped Stalin....... because of the courage of this President, and with what is going on in my own life, and my personal investment in this war, I find this inane discussion an amusing diversion.

George W. Bush: Hero. Excerpt: My title includes the word hero. What does it take to be a hero? Isn´t leading your people and restoring their security and greatness essential to any such definition of a leader of men? His enemies spitefully call him a cowboy´ but there is one representation of a cowboy from western genre that does accurately depict the figure of the 43rd President. It's Clint Eastwood´s portrayal of the preacher in the film Pale Rider where an underestimated man comes along to a small mining community and saves nearly all from disintegration and death.
Bush has done the same for all of us. He has had made us wave the flag and proudly say the pledge again which alone contributes volumes to our renewed viability as a national entity and is not compatible with national disintegration.
We´ve seen how little the world cares about us, yet the story that has not been covered is just how much George W. Bush cares about the rest of the world. How many would be in near-slavery today were it not for him? He has freed the Afghans and the Iraqis from unspeakable horrors. As one Iraqi said after we liberated his town My life begins today.
The world owes a great deal to this cowboy as do you and I.
Mr. Bush, if you should ever read this, I say to you sincerely that my own confidence for the future of our nation began on January 20, 2001 which was the day you were inaugurated President of the United States of America. I, like historians will be a hundred years from now, am forever grateful to you.
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my General Interest ping list!. . .don't be shy.

btw, if you really wanted a serious discussion, you clearly would have led with an argument that at least had the pretense of being rational thought. There's no way to 'debate' your abject silliness.

btw, this article reflects the way a large number of people think. George W. Bush's brilliant leadership in times of great need has transformed many doubters into believers. A LOT of folks continue to diss/underestimate Bush, for whatever reason.
This article portrays him for what he is, imho: an honorable, principled man.

I agree with you about Reagan. However, I also feel that Bush II is more Reaganesque by far than Bush I ever was (that is not meant to disparage Bush I either).
Reagan lit the way, and Bush II is carrying Reagan's torch.
To: Frumious Bandersnatch
I'm fully willing to disparage Bush I...but Bush II may...*may*, I said...be starting to surpass Reagan in my little book of heroes. Starting, I said! :-)

"The Bush inner circle seems to be like that. Any one them could be President -- they are all qualified -- and they all know it. But it says here that the one who got elected gets to sit at the head of the table. So with that out of the way, let's figure out how we're going to get all this stuff done."From Rumsfeld's Rules": Ther is only one President of the United States, and it's not you."

When President Bush starts executing people who disagree with him politically, rather than inviting them to the White House for meetings, I will give some credence to your comparison.
To: doriangrey
I've never understood why the left pounced on the word, "cowboy". Cowboys are respresented as being trustful, hardworking, quiet, thoughtful, strong shouldered, honest, plain talking, cut to the chase, one of the good guys, and if you must, a hero.
To: A Vast RightWing Conspirator
I will agree with you on this point once the purges begin.

9/11/01 Close to 4,000 people are killed when our nation came under attack..and terrorism became our number one enemy.
In a VERY short 18 months:
Our nation has fought TWO wars...TWO... against terrorism abroad, and apparently won both and seriously crippled both the Saddam regime and the Taliban/Al Queda network.
We have come to grips with the need for Homeland Security and made huge strides towards a more efficient modality which has thwarted many attacks (and probably many we will never hear about).
A world-wide coalition of literally hundreds of countries has been put together to hunt down the communications, training sites, and financial network that supports terrorism.
Not too bad.....in a VERY short 18 months, huh?
But you watch, the bile faucet, which has been turned off the past few weeks, will be turned back on with a vengeance. A "righteous" vengeance with the sole purpose of disruption, imo.

It's particularly interesting when the 'dissing' flies in the face of the stark reality of George W. Bush's unquestionable leadership.
Gloat on, dear friend! I gloated a bit myself when I saw the picture of a now FREE Iraqi man doing this to his (and our)"HERO of the Peace".........
I don't think HE likes Stalin, do you?? :o)

Are you insinuating that our admiration and respect for President Bush--a genuinely good man and courageous leader--is akin to the cult worship of the indisuptably evil Stalin?
To: rintense
You are absolutely correct. I think the president would be the first to say that this is a FREE country and he certainly knows folks will disagree with him at times and on different issues.

I'm not sure the sole purpose is disruption. They also have a need to feel important, and for some strange reason releasing their bile on the rest of us meets that need in them.
Sad.

You are very right. For instance, I still disagree with some of his tariff policies (steel tariffs, anybody? blech), I'm not as concerned with the abortion issue, and I get antsy about the Patriot Act.
Watch for the shills and the paleo-conservatives to attack Bush. Watch for the rise of the neo-conservatives -- "compassionate conservatives", if you want, although I hate the term. I consider myself a neo-conservative/small-l libertarian, but, at the end of the day, a good conservative, neo or paleo, and I am amazed on a day-to-day basis with Bush, and moreover, the administration's ability to deal with problems with a new level of flexibility in strategery. ;-)
But make no mistake, your warning should be read and re-read. The rats, of demo or other variety, will begin coming out of the woodwork very soon.
