This reminds me of when American troops first occupied Japan in 1945. The Japanese couldn't understand the black troops. The black military even started a joke telling the Japanese that they were specially bred Americans, trained for night fighting. And the Japanese often believed it!

Those sneaky 'mericans!

We are the throw aways that the rest of the world had no use for.

And the ones who wouldn't take "no" for an answer, who believed a better life could be made with enough optimism and enough courage. We're not just rejects, we rejected the ones in our old worlds (anywhere from which we've come, not just Europe) who said the rules couldn't be broken.

Never tell an American something is impossible unless that's just what you want him to try to do.

I love this story and most of the comments on the thread. Like I told a family member when I sent a link to them, "It is what MY America is about."

"They're just curious," said Cpl. Henok Tefera, 30, who was born in Ethiopia but now calls Columbus, Ohio, home. "You tell them, we're U.S., we're all U.S."

I think this is the quote of the week.

Don't forget also, that Americans are the French, Germans, Japanese and etc., who looked around at the country of their birth and decided it sucked; and that there had to be somewhere on Earth where they could go and not be surrounded by a**holes.

The Euro-Elite just don't understand that we don't get along with them because we are the refugees who couldn't stand their sh*t in the first place.
