I'm proud of the USMC... if Command does ANYTHING to harm the spirit of those guys, it would be a mistake. They fought their way up hundreds of miles, faced ongoing attack threat, barely got any sleep, had not one drop of showers, limited food/drink supplies, and the best CNN can do is parrot Reuters? How sad that none of these reports actually play the sound of cheering as the Marine puts the flag over the statue's head. God bless USMC Cpl. Chin! Here's the Reuter's caption on this photo: A U.S. Marine covers the face of a statue of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) with a U.S. flag in Baghdad April 9, 2003. U.S. troops briefly draped an American flag over the face of a giant statue of President Saddam Hussein in central Baghdad on Wednesday as they prepared to topple it in front of a crowd of Iraqis. The gesture, likely to be highly provocative in much of the Arab world where the U.S. invasion of Iraq (news - web sites) has stirred widespread anger, was quickly reversed and an Iraqi flag was tied instead to the statue's neck. Local residents had earlier scaled the 20-foot (six metre) statue and slipped a noose around its neck to drag it down. REUTERS TV

We were flipping through the channels this morning when the "flag incident" happened. Katie and the Today show crowd all got uncomfortable when the flag came out and somebody even mentioned that "you know eyes are rolling at the Pentagon right now".....They brought it up again and again, as if the whole celebration was ruined because of the flag incident. Nobody remarked on the Iraqi people that were waving american flags while this was happening.

They also failed to take the sound feed from the cell phones of Western reporters on the scene. FNC had the sound feed which clearly had the cheering of the crowd.

Or that it was an Iraqi citizen who brought the US flag out in the first place.

We watched Peter Jennings tonight, because I wanted to see what the Canadian socialist was reporting, figuring that would be the worst presentation of the news that Americans would see.

They had some of the great pictures and even an Iraqi saying "Thank you Mr. Bush," but Jennings tone was incredible -- 'supercilious' and 'snide' are the nicest adjectives I can come up with.

I noted that Tropicana was advertising on his show. Maybe I'll write them.

I've been rechecking my digital video of the moment on FNC. It looks like the Marine Cpl. unfurled a properly folded flag that passed to him by the second man on the crane.

Do you think we should send sympathy cards in their time of grief to Jennings, Katie, CNN? Tell them we know how they hate George Bush, America and the U.S. military and wanted them all defeated and let it be a warning to them about what happened to Al Jezeera and they could be next to be run out of town.

The missus went down to the Hottub the other night, two Canadian Snowbird couples were there making snide remarks about the foolishness of the US in the war. She commented about how they seemed to have a summer cold and they agreed,...she then mentioned that some concern existed about biological terrorism and SARS.

They didn't say much after that.

Glum is good. It's when they are happy that we need to worry.

Actually, the Iraqis in the square were cheering when the flag covered Saddam's face. Then, an Iraqi man produced a pre-Saddam flag and it was put up around Saddam's neck. The Marine took the Iraqi flag down before toppling the ogre. The whole thing was actually quite symbolic and up-lifting for those present.

The kneepad networks are hard at work digging for anything to denegrate the courageous achievement of OUR Soldiers. The dissers are following the talking points which instruct them to not let this get too positive for Bush & co. Of course, they end up denegrating our honorable Soldiers in the process, but they means nothing to the Kerryesque crowd.
