Last night Shep was starting to go off about some emails he received putting down the non-embedded press. He seemed pretty hot. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay up to see it all. Can someone summarize? Was he going off on Freepers?

Not on freepers (I hope). One emailer said he cared for the soldiers who were killed, and their families, but he did not care for the journalists who were killed, or their families. Another email said "Screw the journalists".

He read to letters that stated that they didn't care about the journalists who were injured/killed in Iraq. One guy went so far as to say "screw the journalists."
These people were also suggesting we should only get our news from the government during their daily press briefings, etc. Shep made the point that our system is set up with a free press as part of a checks and balances system. And maybe people who only wanted to get their news from the government should visit Iraq.

He got some pretty cruel ones and talked of the importance of a free press.I am going to write him a sane email one day about the point...our soldiers lives in danger.I have nothing against the press but their arrogance.I am sad when they are killed but demanding we should investigate got under everyone's skin.
