Looks like the 4th Infantry Division after waiting months with Turkey "hem hawing" around, is finally getting down to business.

The 4th ID is going to be ready to kick some serious (series) butt. I know they have been in Kuwait yelling "Put me in Coach, Put me in Coach!"

Well there are still the cities of Kirkuk, Mosel and Tikrit
left to take.
And almost half of Iraq's oil wells.
And one RG brigade and about 6 Regular Army divisions.

I feel so badly that these men and women are finally getting over there just as the war is winding down. They have been chomping at the bit to leave here (Ft. Hood) for months. Please, oh please, let there be some remaining pockets of resistance for the 4th ID to obliterate. Just a little taste of combat...that's all they want. Is that too much to ask? They've gotten all dressed up for the party; just let 'em get in one little dance.

"We'll have 80 percent of the brigade here today, and we expect to be going into Iraq in a week,"
A day late and a dollar short. Change the deployment to Syria or North Korea and now your talking!

I think there will be some work for 4ID and their M1A2 tanks.

Well the good thing is some don't feel it may be winding down just yet, but I have to pretty agree (hoping) while watching all those statues of Saddam come down today. It sure did my heart good.

There was a "Golden Bridge" left open by our forces that funnelled all the evil that escaped Baghdad to Tikrit. Taskforce Ironhorse will have the honor of the "Killing Blow".

"Col. Don Campbell, commander of the 1st Brigade" Then MAJ Campbell was my Battalion XO at Riley...the Brigade is in good hands.
To: TXBlair
My Grandson and long time Freeper [do something about it] is a 1st Lt. in the 4th. His first stop was supposed to be Tikrit. I think they will head that way.
Keep all our guys in your prayers.
To: oldmanlegg
Done. Though I don't know your grandson's name, I can promise you that he has been in my daily prayers all along. These are my neighbors, these are the parents of my students, these are my Sunday School classmates. I have a growing list of specific names in addition to "our troops"; now I can add "oldmanlegg's grandson". Thanks for the heads-up! God bless you and your family!

Thanks for your caring.

I wish the IVth would hurry and get in there. I mean, the job can't be done with the small forces we have there now. Oh, wait.

The problem is that the Golden Bridge went right through Tikrit and out the other side, continuing for the last three weeks into Damascus.
