Batchelor and Alexander are almost the Art Bell of the political scene. They could be right, but it's not something I'd want to have to bet the house on. The Loftus claim also doesn't mesh with news reports that they heard Saddam in the restaurant talking about how to escape Baghdad after he got there.

Batchelor and Alexander are almost the Art Bell of the political scene. I wasn't aware of that. I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with their work (spend too much time FReeping to pay attention to much else -- you mean there really is a world outside my computer screen?)
On the other hand, I have caught myself listening to Art Bell and thinking, "Hmmmmm . . . he might have something there."
