No they were never "officially" against the war. The federal government was playing politics in order to protect its left votes. In reality we had over a thousand sailors at sea protecting the American ships and helping supply the British, we had men on AWACS planes directing traffic and we had embedded men on the ground fighting. The government will not confirm or deny that or special comandos were operating in theater.
