"Wish You Were Here"

For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.

Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help!  If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service™, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Rummy: Why don't we do one question at a time. There are some many people here today.

Said when the reporter was following the new line of questioning we'll be hearing---"What if you don't find WMD?"

Rumsfeld concerned about WMD being possibly moved out of the country.

Male reporter: "What about Saddam Hussein?"

Rummy: "What about him are you interested in?"

Laughter in the room.

Rumsfeld says it's hard to find people when they're alive or buried under rubble. Listing possibilities of where, oh where, Saddam might be. "Who knows, time will tell".

The regime will change.

Rummy: Exactly what about him [SH] are you interested in? His health?

He's either dead, decapitated, or hiding somewhere. Time will tell. Important things that need to happen will happen.

I love this guy!!!

Why, thank you kindly!

Rummy just threw down a challenge to Saddam, suggesting he was cowering in a bunker. Ha! Take that!

Yes! We took Baghdad without even harming the old-growth palm...longtime habitat of the endangered Tigris Sand Flea!

how the Marines have a lot of work ahead of them to convence the iraqi people ..

Yes, these people seem terrified.
US Marine Sgt David Sutherland signs autographs for Iraqis on their 250-denomination dinars notes in Baghdad. Cheering crowds of Iraqis welcomed US marines as their tanks and troops poured into the center of Baghdad and the regime of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) collapsed.(AFP/Karim Sahib)

Lara was talking about all these Iragi's she has talked to who feel "violated" by the "invassion of the American's". That there is tremendous suffering by women and children as a result of the violence ... yada yada

Typical of her other recent broadcasts.
