That was my first reaction, that if true, the Russkies sure hadn't mounted much of a coordinated resistance.
Why do I think that I heard or read something here before about Russian generals at least "helping" the Iraqi's. In fact I'm postive I read something here about it but don't remember if it was an article or comment.
Don't like to think we were set up on the restaurant. We'll know better next time if so.

It was reported in several stories that the Iraqis were getting military advice from Russians. This had been reported by various sources from about the second day of this thing. I believe it is true. I have no idea how "official" such advice might be, and the likelihood that their 'NSA' is involved.

That was my first reaction, that if true, the Russkies sure hadn't mounted much of a coordinated resistanceThey didn't have much to work with though and we may have taken them by surprise with our battle plan. I just hope they don't have a hand in luring others from the region into Iraq to mount persistent unconventional attacks.
As for the restaurant, it sounds so much like a page from a group of Algerians I went to college with (who turned out to be extremists). It resonates with me for that reason, I hope it's not true.
