Police battle with Oakland protesters
Officers fire non-lethal projectiles to disperse group A sting-all grenade explodes over protesters as they square off against Oakland police officers.
MSNBC STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS
OAKLAND, Calif., April 7 Police fired wooden dowels and bean-bag pellets Monday at hundreds of antiwar protesters blocking a road near Oaklands port. Demonstrators and bystanders were injured as police dispersed the protest which was intended to block supplies being shipped to U.S. forces fighting in Iraq.
SEVERAL PEOPLE were injured, including some who suffered large bruises. One man lifted up his shirt to show a welt about the size of a baseball. Most of the 500 demonstrators at the port were dispersed peacefully, but police fired at two gates when protesters refused to move and police said some of them threw rocks and bolts. The longshoremen, pinned against a fence, were caught in the line of fire. The police fired bean-bag rounds and wooden dowels. They also used sting balls, which send out a spray of BB-sized rubber pellets and a cloud of tear gas.

The conclusion of a story I posted earlier today. Looks like the little America haters got what they deserved.

One man lifted up his shirt to show a welt about the size of a baseball. Meanwhile, in Iraq, over 100 American and Allied soldiers have died to overthrow a tyrant who cuts out the tongues of dissenters and submerges political opponents in acid.

My wife was driving home today and she heard on the radio a longshoreman who was at the protests. He said that if the cops had not acted against the demonstraters, the longshoremen would have. He said the union members detest the protesters. What the cops did was nothing compared to what the longshoremen would have done.

The police asked them to move at least 8 times and the crowd started to throw rocks, bottles, pieces of metal and other objects. This was not a peace protest. It was a go fight with the Police protest. The police asked them to move about 7 times too many. I was taught at an early age that there are consequences for every action you take. The protesters have nothing to cry about.

these people have a right to protest. These people DO NOT have a right to block passage of supplies to our troops. They will get what they deserve as they are breaking the law and exhibiting treasonist tactics. I hope every last one of them is arrested. As for the rubber bullets...well, they should be happy they are not real bullets but...seems these people are NEVER happy about anything unless they are protesting and showing themselves for what they are. UnAmerican!!!
To: Uncle Hal
The police are there to keep peace but they do not have to be subject to objects thrown at them. They are human beings too and have a right to protect themselves from this kind of rabble. I support the troops and the policemen who have to put their lives on the line as well.

From what I understand from reports on the radio today...not only were there supplies for the troops being loaded at the Oakland Port...there was also relief supplies for the Iraqi people as well. Once again proving these protesters aren't about "peace". IMHO, they're American hating, Bush hating thugs.

Right on.As a teamster, anybody who interferes us carrying out our duties in the negotiated contract and preventing us from supporting our families and country will get their Clymers kicked. We do some heavy lifting. Some pencil necked peacenik is easy prey for us.The longshore union choose do be PC about this and let cops come in.If the cops were not there, the peaceniks would be in worse shape and no longshoreman brothers would be shot with rubber bullets.

The sweet, little agent provocateurs are lucky. Had they been dressed as Iraqi soldiers or Saddam Fedayeen (their soul brothers and sisters), they would have been piles of mush.
Terrorists who attempt to sabotage military operations are enemies of the state and should be dealt with, accordingly.

Saw a clip of this on Fox News. The SDPD guys looked like they were having fun. They were wearing out the slides on those riot guns. Maybe tomorrow they'll put OO Buckshot in them. One can only hope!

"The protesters have nothing to cry about."
These are the same whiners that wanted to strike when they already make $80,000 to $120,000 a year. They probably felt opressed.

They should break up crowds like this the way they broke up rioting people in Soylent Green....I bet after 2 or 3 times they would listen when police asked them to get off private property.
