>>These are probably very hard- working people that are trying to get by. They've found gaps and loops in the system and are trying to get through those gaps and loops," Law's husband, Rich, said of Morales and other immigrants.<<

What an unimaginative excuse for their criminality. He must be a multiculuralist/diversity monger.

Stealing a social security card would get an American citizen jail time. No one would have the audacity to suggest they were good, hard-working people whose only crime is they found loopholes.

In 1990, the fund totaled $1.2 billion. By the end of a decade during which America's undocumented immigrant population doubled and the circulation of fake identity documents surged, that fund topped $6 billion.

Thanks alot, Slick Willy. /sarcasm

Illegal aliens now have more rights than Americans - free medical care, in-state tuition rates......

Right on Risa!!!!

Deport the illegals in our prisons already convicted of state criminal statute violations.

The INS needs to be restructured to immediately criminally prosecute all who violate our borders, and march them back to Mexico. In the alternative, Mexico sends us oil to pay for the expense of maintaining the prisons we need to house the low life ignorant hordes they ship over our border.

Since illegal immigrants have no right to SSA benefits, the government will pocket most of the money, experts say.

I begin to get a glimmer of why the feds are relunctant to do anything about illegal immigration.

. . .said Alejo, who spoke on condition his last name not be used.

"Alejo" is a federal criminal. The author knows he is a federal criminal and is covering for him to get his stroy. This means the author is quilty of misprision of a federal crime. But, for the reason above, no action by the district attorney will be taken, or any action by anyone in the fedgov or state.

I wonder how many SS numbers are stolen by employees from bank account records? Since the war on drugs allows LEOs to confiscate large amounts of cash you may carry with you, you are for all practical purposes forced to use a bank account to hold the money for use. Could this be part of the reason opposition to the drug war is stonewalled by the feds even in the fact of overwhelming evidence that it destroys more than it saves?

Could these events be all one dirty ball of causation centered around the need for politicians to keep this socialist system from collapsing on their watch?

Enforcement agencies say the most effective way to control the problem would be to issue a counterfeit-proof Social Security card to every U.S. worker. But a 1997 government study found the move would cost $10 billion, and lawmakers have so far balked at the price.

Right.

It obviously makes more sense to give $10 billion to Turkey. Or to South Africa, to use to combat AIDS.

Congress and this administration have absolutely no desire to solve this problem.

In the meantime, I'm still looking for a job, any job, even if at minimun wages.

Maybe a Mexican Consular ID Card would help.

It might make some difference but when you read about Social Security employees selling SS numbers and the holders' info why wouldn't the supposed uncounterfeitable cards turn up in the hands of illegals.

Sure some numbers are stolen, but I suspect a lot of folks are just making up numbers that fit the known sequences. Employer gets a letter from Social Security, the employee bails.

ILLEGAL POEM

I come for visit, get treated regal,
So I stay, who care I illegal?

I cross ocean, poor and broke,
Take bus, see employment folk.

Nice man treat me good in there,
Say I need to see welfare.

Welfare say, "You come no more,
We send cash right to your door."

Welfare checks, they make you wealthy,
Medicaid it keep you healthy!

By and by, I got plenty money,
Thanks to you, American dummy.

Write to friends in motherland,
Tell them come as fast as you can.

Come in open border and by Ford trucks,
I buy big house with welfare bucks.

They come here, we live together,
More welfare checks, it gets better!

Fourteen families they moving in,
But neighbor's patience wearing thin.

Finally, white guy moves away,
Now I buy his house, and then I say,

"Find more aliens for house to rent."
And in the yard I put a tent.

Send for family (they just trash),
But they, too, draw the welfare cash!

Everything is very good,
And soon we own the neighborhood.

We have hobby--it's called breeding,
Welfare pay for baby feeding.

Kids need dentist? Wife need pills?
We get free! We got no bills!

American crazy! He pay all year,
To keep welfare running here.

We think America darn good place!
Too darn good for the white man race.

If they no like us, they can go,
Got lots of room in Mexico.

By 1989 I had four different illegals using my SSI number. I don't know what the number is today, probably 20.

I have on good word from a neighbor who is a manager for a nationally known veteran’s organization that the Social Security Administration will do a Social Security Number check for a prospective employee, BUT the information cannot be used to deny someone a job. Hence, illegal aliens can use stolen Social Security Numbers because they cannot be denied jobs regardless.

The SSA goes on to say that using the information to deny a job will result in prosecution of the employer.

My husband and I went last weekend to purchase a much needed "new" car. When they pulled his credit report, a repossession for a car we've never owned, a loan we never took our or knew about came up.

Needless to say we were turned down for a loan because of this and now I will have to start the long and frustrating journey of having this removed from his credit report.

Maybe the answer is a law that stops credit reporting agencies and creditors from asking for a social security number for credit and requiring all applicants provide three valid forms of ID before approving/accepting an application.
