>>our military leaders have the forethought to let these men know they are heroes before they are ever spit on at the airport when they come home.

We cannot allow this to happen. If those people are there, FReepers and others need to be there, waving flags, in such numbers that those who would do something this ugly are intimidated and keep their silence and bodily fluids.

We cannot allow our returning soldiers to be spat upon again.

Not one of her best, IMO.

A little too much 'happy face'.

When your enemy has the power to hurt you really really bad, you make sure you don't piss him off too much too fast.

You are so completely wrong you are not worth the rebuttle. Go hide under a rock.

All I want to know is if you paid Jim Robinson yet.

You know I have -- but how dishonorable of you and how typical of you to imply otherwise. BTW, have you learned to stop lying about people you get in an argument with yet? And, have you graduated to doing anything on this forum more interesting than posting warmed-over versions of my old jokes on Maureen Dowd threads? Funny once is not funny forever, you know.

Ha! Still insulting and prickly, aren't you?

Re: Maureen Dowd threads...my comment on Maureen is part of Pokey's introduction, not something I post each time.

And YOU should know that I post on other threads besides that one.

But then, you haven't much credibility left after your attacks on those who disagreed with you. I see that you still haven't learned your lesson.

And as far as paying Jim, how am I supposed to have known that? ESP?

Your word is sufficient, but apparently you didn't see fit to TELL anyone that you had made payment. Or, if you did, I missed it. Thank you for the information.

It gets more bizarre. This article was actually posted in Peggy's very own newspaper today, under the banner "Americans Show Concern For Casualties":

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/880735/posts

Seriously, where do they find these "journalists?" Berkeley? Paris?

You know it very well because I pinged you, Jim Robinson, everybody I made a bet with, and many other people over a week ago. You're lying again, just as you lied repeatedly about my positions in your earlier posts. What is the matter with you?

If a fabricated slaughter occurs in the next 36 hours and is blamed on our Soldiers, I will call for Arnett's prosecution as a war criminal for aiding and abetting the atrocity to civilians. I can only imagine the shock and awe Peggy suffered when she heard Peter Arnett's complete betrayal of the ethics of their profession with his treachery to our Troops and Iraqi civilians, not to mention his feeding the fanatical Arab streets if such an atrocity occurs for we know whom they will believe!

We'll be watching, and we'll be ready to demand his prosecution.

PS Love your tagline!

The 'apology' Peter issued today is scant consolation to the civilians for whom he may have encouraged saddamesque martyrdom.

I like Peggy but I don't agree particularly with her on this issue. We don't KNOW how long the war will last, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a long war. Yes, we may have pockets of resistance throughout Iraq but my feeling is that this war is one that is being fought in the heavenlies as well as on earth. It is a war between God and satan for the souls of the islamicists. I feel that this war may well break the back of Islam in those nations and that satan is NOT happy with our being there. You know he's at work with all the anti-Bush sentiments and anti-war rants that are going on. Bush is doing something right to have these people all ganging up on him. This is more than just a physical war with Iraq, it's a spiritual war for the souls of men and women trapped in the religion of "peace." We need to pray for this heavenly war as well as for the physical one. It may take a while or it could be over in weeks.

Also, you can't stimulate a rebellion from within if you have killed off all the people "within".

Exactly right. There's a time and a place for flag-waving. Since we are technically part of a coalition here, this ain't it.

"The biggest threat to America now, apart from Iraqi regulars and irregulars, is not a person but a phenomenon. It is the twisting or abusing of facts to underscore a point of view one wishes to see disseminated. I mean propaganda. The antiwar left did not pick up its marbles and go home when the war began. They just went home and waited for something bad to happen that they could exploit. They have it now: a war that is taking time and producing deaths on the field. The antiwar left has shown precious little interest in or compassion for members of the U.S. armed services. And yet you can bet the farm that they are about to discover a great warm hearted concern as the bodies of American fighters come home. The left is going to use those deaths as propaganda in their attempts to stop the war."

She is absolutely right. The antiwar protesters aren't concerned with anyone's suffering but only their hatred towards America and their chance to express it.
