"Who then, does it apply to? The 3rd ID and the 101st? " If anyone is pausing, it's 3rd ID. Their corridor was lightly defended and they were first off the mark, so it's logical they'll wait for the other 2 prongs to "catch up-----so what?

Yes, we don't want to start the attack until the units have closed on their objectives. We also need to soften up the RG. We hold all the cards here and will do it at the time that is the best for us.

30 days? Yep, Saddam, that sounds about right.

Thanks. I'll look for it.
Anyone know when Imus will be back on?

I think we should all just cool it and wait for the info to come down from the top - and not the press. Oh, no.

Gen. Myers said today a long pause was "way off base." Q: General Franks, Jeff Schaeffer (ph), Associated Press Television News. There are numerous reports from the front that the advance on Baghdad -- there's a pause or a stall in the advance on Baghdad, anywhere ranging from six days to several weeks. Can you address that, please?
GEN. FRANKS: Sure. I think that the embedded reporting that is coming from inside Iraq, perhaps while we are speaking, would reflect that combat operations are continuing. They are continuing in the north, they are continuing in the west, they are continuing in the south, and they are continuing right around Baghdad.
There are two ways to look at this. One way is to discuss something that we call an operational pause, which means that military formations move and then they intend to take a breath, to take a pause, before continuing operations. There have been some pundits who have indicated that perhaps we are in an operational pause -- I think, sir, this is what you made reference to. It's simply not the case. There is a continuity of operations in this plan. That continuity has been seen. It will be seen in the days ahead, and it will be manifested on the battlefield in Iraq at points and times of our choosing. What I mean by that is, sometimes air, sometimes ground, sometimes special forces, sometimes combination of two of the above, sometimes all three. That's the way we are going to fight this.

Brit report that was recanted was the capture of an Iraqi general. Maybe so maybe not. The rest of the story still in play, which was others captured were singing. Also heard a report of a laptop which may have useful information. Timeline on that was between one and two weeks need to evaluate the contents.

You know, we really don't need the media because they don't know what the hell is going on. They report every rumor as fact and cover every base in between. Hell, you and I can do that. Maybe part of President Bush's brillance is to let the UN and the leftist media be exposed for the idiots they really are. There is either no stand down or there is, it's either a few days or a month. Saddam is dead, he's alive, he's injured, he's in command, he's not. Take your pick. Basra was taken, it wasn't, it was for a while, but it was lost. When you cover every conceivable possibility chances are one of them will be right, although even with all the guessing the media still probably doesn't get it right. The media is being used, what is the saying, as "useful idiots" and the really funny part is they're too stupid to even know it. Of course you can kind of understand the disinformation of war time, but what is their excuse for not getting anything right the rest of the time?

Well, the report from the 'dating Bret Baier' last night was that Pentagon sources say that Baghdad will fall from the inside out. Maybe those inside Gagdad who are talking with us need some time. I'm not worrying about it at this point in time.

First of all, whoever wrote this doesn't know military parlance. None of these units could 'stand down' in the classic and professional sense.
So, whatever the 'journalist' heard, it likely didn't come from one of our military or, more likely, was taken out of context.
