Three guesses why Arnett's been allowed to stay. And just more proof of how low CNN has sunk.

Baghdad Peter is "working" for National Geographic and NBC. As far as I am concerned, he is really working for Saddam. He better have a good explanation for his comments, when this is all over. They sounded, like "aiding and abetting" to me!

Of course, I only saw clips of his interview, as shown on Fox News Channel. So I don't know the entire context. But what I heard and saw, wasn't good.

Even CNN dropped this guy, he works for National Geographic and NBC, both of whom should be getting our emails of outrage.

Arnett was fired by CNN after a story he signed off on, about how the U.S. used sarin gas on POW's in Laos, was proved to be false. He said he wasn't responsible, that he was a sacrificial lamb, etc. since not all those associated with that particular smear story were fired.

What's really interesting about this story is how the print media is reporting it as straight news, with not a little subtle smirking.

I can't help thinking of the leftist professor on O'Reilly last week who was accusing Fox of bias in favor of the war, based on the fact that some of its reporters had referred to the U.S. as "we."

In the liberal mind, Fox is biased for acknowledging loyalty to the U.S. in the use of the first person plural, but Arnett expressing his personal anti-war, pro-Iraqi views on the enemy's state-run TV station, as a reporter for an American network, during wartime, is legitimate journalism.
