From what I understand from the local radio discussion tonight, the original song is an army song. Not the Tony Orlando and Dawn one.
They've been doing this since the Civil War, evidently.

I heard on FOX today or maybe yesterday that the military doesn't want us sending packages and letters to "a US Service member".
They're worried about anthrax and would rather we use one of the e-mail sites on the net to contact them or find an organization that is buying stuff for them and donate.

My daughter came home from HS today and told me lots of the kids were wearing yellow ribbons. I though that was pretty cool.

Yeah, that's true if you're trying to send directly to the troops. But there are ways to get the stuff there via a "middle man", such as www.usocares.org -- and others. Also no letter, only postcards. I think the City is picking up the tab for postage for employees to send the cards. At least, that idea was being discussed on Monday; not certain how it turned out.

"Hey some of my forefathers owned the Mayflower! Captain Cornelius May, and such."
Way cool! Thanks for the info. History is so interesting.
Are you in Ventura County? If so, will you be at tomorrow's rally?

Got Prozac? Got spell check?

Ralph - Were you there last Sunday? I'd made a name tag for you, but it was never picked up.
To: Paul Atreides
No! One must add to your list that he is from Haiti arriving here illegally. Lord! Get it right!

Wrong Wrong!! I walk over to the desk and knowing only one ralph rotten existed-- removed said name tag and picked up a flag. LOL
To: Old Professer
Yes, that's part of the reason why it's been renamed "Thousand Tokes". Root rot and lots of pot.

No ma'am, I am far from Ventura. But since you like history, please consider the story of
Peter Minuet the only man ever to conquer Manhattan. You see, the Brits in the Revolution were only temporary occupiers and the British who took New Amsterdam, well, that only happened because the Dutchmen wanted them -- for British rule was better for business than the constant internecine warfare the American Dutch were always up to. Not even Washington was able to capture Manhattan. Only Peter Minuet.
And not only did Minuet bring the Dutch to the America ... he brought the Swedes too. He was the founder of both New Amsterdam and New Sweden!
