This just in...not kidding....NYC PD is now reporting 3 Men had too much to drink last night and wanted to climb the towers on the Bridge...ala Saturday Night Fever! Hahahaha

The earlier Arab immigrants were Lebanese Catholics fleeing persecution by muslims. In the last 25 years or so, Muslims, more than a few Wahabis, moved in("there goes the neighborhood"). They are located especially close to the feet of these bridges.

Never heard of threats to the Williamsburg; but I should note that the neighborhood called Williamsburg, in Brooklyn that is adjacent to the Williamsburg Bridge, is heavily Orthodox Jewish.

My son used to live pretty close to the foot of the bridge in Brooklyn. Actually it's a very divers neighborhood, and there are a lot of Muslims there. I believe it is close to the mosque that got busted for illegal donations recently.

On the Manhattan side it is not too far from Wall Street.
