Police say the pizza deliveryman wasn't responsible for burning an anti-war protest sign.

But police said he was not responsible for burning an anti-war protest sign in the 2400 block of Kingman Boulevard.

McKillop, 58, said he was on his way to work Friday shortly after he saw NBC's Tom Brokaw become overcome with emotion during television coverage of the war in Iraq.

That would be mere speculation and conjecture on your part.

Attending an anti-war march with a Dominos uniform on might result in a similar termination.

Now, there's a picture!

Yes, the guy did lose control of his senses for a minute or two but as I've stated in previous posts, I'd have to look at the entire picture before I fired him. Small companies may have that luxury while a corporation like Dominos probably doesn't. There's much conjecture on this thread as to what type of employee this guy is. Some have said that because he is 58 and delivering pizzas he's probably made some bad career moves in the past. But, who knows? The guy could be someone working a second job at night to pay his bills. There's usually three sides to every story and we've only heard bits and pieces of two of them.

He could just as easily have retired early and taken a part-time job to avoid going stir crazy. Or getting away from a spouse for a bit. :=)

I don't think you understood my post.

I agree with you, as anyone who understand what the right of free speech entails agrees with you.

The chicks have no more right to be free of private disapprobation and its consequences than the pizza man.

Chick defenders and certain others in recent days say their free speech is being infringed on if their are any reprisals by anyone.

from my experience working at domino's i remember that wearing a uniform was not optional... company policy required we wear a uniform, and appear clean cut and shaven, as well as providing protocol on how we spoke to customers when making deliveries. we were also required to pay for our uniform. but i don't recall having to sign a contract oulinging off-the-clock conduct or domino's ever providing a superman phone booth to change into domino's colors before starting our shift.

so we shouldn't be surprised he was wearing a uniform while driving to work... on his own time... when the incident occured

when it was decided to be a free nation who did they have in mind? domino's right to private enterprise free of government meddling or peoples' right to express themselves. who has never expressed a personal opinion at work?

personally i choose to live dangerously.. i would rather interact with a human being than somebody sterilized of all personal opinions, trained to toe the domino's corporate line

Why won't they fire the jackasses who drive the little POS Honda's with whale tails and trumpet mufflers. We have two such Domino's drivers in my little town. You can hear them coming a mile away.
In my opinion, the "fast and furious" high-school-aged idiots are a butt-load more offensive than any middle-aged Patriotic American could ever be.

Have you called the manager with a description of the cars and their driving? It's amazing the "attitude adjustment" that can result from a few complaints. :=)

No, I haven't and I should. But I'm afraid that a manager without enough sense to realize it on his own is a useless target for a complaint. I have long meant to get their customer satisfaction 800# or e-mail and complain to corporate. I think that will elicit a better response. Maybe I will get around to it tonight.
I hate to see anyone lose their job but those loud little cars are very annoying.

The Domino's chain doesn't actually have a policy that says, "No speaking about politics on the job". They do, however, have a "no guns in your vehicle" policy.

They aren't too terrible to work for, not in this area, and delivering pizza was a great second job for me last summer... I made enough to stay in school. My boss would have fired this guy, but most of the managers would have kept him on if they could have.

I'm glad to see he wasn't whining.
