i tell you honestly, maybe this will be a controversial opinion, but I really don't care much about Iraqi civilians. Not that I want to see any harm come to them, or collateral damage from our attack. But "liberation" is way down on my list of priorities for this thing. I don't expect much of a reaction from the civilians (except for the Kurds, who are very happy). These Iraqi civilians don't like Americans. Look what the Somali civilians did to our men. We should not be misled. We aren't seeing any celebrations from the embedded reporters in Basra, I have to assume the reaction of the locals is benign. I think the Afghan people were more appreciative then the people in Baghdad will be. Just my opinion of course.

If this thing picks up, we may have to go to MREs.

Even when I was in the military we tried to avoid MRE's. They are allegedly better now... but we used to bring big old "pogie bags" of junk food, spam, and the like out to the field, and cook them on our trusty Yukon stoves.
