"Excuse my density but what was the motion across the throat about? Was he trying to tell her that the soldiers were dangerous and that they might kill her?"

I believe, as referenced in the above article, that the last time they got excited we left them hanging and they paid the price.

The impression I got was he was a Saddam supporter warning her she would die for her "treason". I think reality will hit home to him pretty soon, but right now he probably thinks Saddam will use his genius to retake control of his city.

He was probably warning her that if she were seen making physical contact that she would have her throat slit by other Iraqis. Their customs are very different than ours. If you want to read more in a very well researched and entertaining novel, read The Haj by Leon Uris. Excellent historical novel---mostly about Israel and Palestine---but it gave me some insight into what it's like to be a Muslim woman.

Iraqi citizens in the town of Safwan, on the border with Kuwait, celebrate the start of the US-led war which aims to disarm President Saddam Hussein, March 21, 2003. U.S. troops took the key new port of Umm Qasr in southern Iraq, and the White House said that the Iraqi war could still be 'lengthy and dangerous'. BEST QUALITY AVAILABLE REUTERS/Kuwait TV

I thought that might also be the reason but I wasn't sure. It is so odd how you rarely see a woman in these societies. Sounds to me like a little freedom would do those gals an awful lot of good!

Another man said his wife was shot in the leg by the Americans.

A few men and boys ventured out, putting makeshift white flags on their pickup trucks or waving white T-shirts out truck windows.

"Americans very good," Ali Khemy said. "Iraq wants to be free."

.

I would have gladly taken a shot in BOTH legs to be free of Bill Clinton!

I doubt it. These idiots pick and choose their history and reality as it suits them. I saw footage of another a**hole in Portland about two weeks ago waving a flag with the image of Che Guevara. No doubt this genius has no idea of his background and actions either.

The whole world is against the liberation of Iraq, except of course, for the people who are being liberated.

I wonder what Pacifica has to say about this...they didn't mention it while I was listening.
