Bush won't sack Powell, but Powell's stock has plunged. Not only has his advice proved worthless, but the Powell-worshippers have lost faith in him too since he ended up backing war. He won't be taken seriously anymore.
I'm a firm believer that Powell is a perfect Secretary of State becuase of what the job calls for.... DIPLOMACY
all this diplomatic double speak is just cover until we are prepared to launch this War. Turkey's refusal to allow us basing rights was a major setback and the War plans changed from a multi-front ground offensive to a logistical nightmare.
I'm glad GWB didn't put politics above the safety of our troops and bought some time for Plan "B" to take shape.
I see the end of this story as being a MAJOR vistory for those of decided to make that stand with GWB and disarm Saddam Hussain. France might think they have us over a barrel, but they are sadly mistaken. They are the ones who decided to stand with Saddam and no matter how the cards are cut, France is to blame for this mess at the U.N. and this current debate at the U.N. might just end up being the straw that broke the Camel's back when it comes to this nation supporting them.
