2. To the extent the economy is "reeling," it has little or nothing to do with the war in Iraq.

3. One of my criticisms of the President is that he has not been willing to cut the domestic budget to fight the war on terrorism and reduce the deficit.

4. Since when did Arabs, a semitic people and the last enslavers of black people on earth, become "people of color?"

In short, this article bears little resemblance to the truth and is just another attempt to remind black people that anything backed by a Republican is bad.

They come from many different lines but are not "people of color", just like Persians (Iranians) are not arabs yet are too often lumped in with the latter. Marc Edwards could not be more appalled as he watches President Bush push ahead with plans for war.

How did he feel when it came out that President Clinton was being 'serviced' by Monica at the same time he was on a phone call with a Congressman discussing troop deployments in Bosnia? A Pew Research Center poll last month similarly found black support for the war at the lowest level of any group questioned — 44 percent, compared to 73 percent among whites and 67 percent among Latinos.

44 percent support for the war among blacks is pretty impressive, I'd say, considering the 90%+ of blacks that habitually vote Democrat. Just goes to show how anyone can spin an analysis of statistical data.

Someone needs to inform this 45 year old Harlem resident that there is no military draft anymore and that the blacks that are in the service now enlisted. So if lots of blacks enlisted in the military, then lots of blacks enlisted. End of story.

There are other sites as well that will completely refute this argument. Besides, even today you will notice that (big extrapolation based on personal experience) ALL combat arms units are predominately white and from a rural background. Even today the officers/NCOs are the biggest targets, a high school degree is a minimum for enlistment, a bachelors for a commission and the average age is way over 19. It is unfortunate, but most Americans get their facts from “Platoon” and other war soaps where every rumor and possible dysfunction is prescribed to a single platoon that is composed of inner city poor minorities (19 years old) fighting for “Da man” and led by an arrogant incompetent west point lieutenant. It is a tragedy that Hollywood writes our history.
