God--that has got to be the single, greatest short paragraph description of the true state of affairs with "celebrities" that I have yet seen.

I have always wondered why some people think that folks whose single talent is either lying with a straight face (acting) or (maybe) singing on key have some kind of expertise that enables their opinion about world affairs to be any better than any OTHER schmuck's.

IMHO, the reason all these entertainment types gravitate leftward is that they feel ashamed that they make a jillion dollars for doing ... in a goodly number of cases, not universally ... nothing of any real consequence or lasting significance, so they basically flagellate themselves to atone for their good fortune in what they view as a world of misfortune. Of course they never think like that when they're trying to climb up the latter, they're as craven and mercenary and capitalistic as they come, it's only when they grab the brass ring that they start feeling that bleeding-heart guilt. As far out as he could be, John Lennon had his head on straight along those lines.
