On a recent Dixie Chicks special on CMT, either Martie or her sister said the original Dixie Chicks had performed at events for Texas Governor Bush on more than a few occasions.

I know a woman who went to high school 30 years ago with one of the real Dixie Chicks. These three latecomers are NOT the "original" crew. Other than the name there is absolutely nothing in common with the prior incarnation---so I understand. {Since I don't give a steaming mound of dung about the music biz and therefore pretty much ignore it.}
