Heard the DJ on the local country music station here in Atlanta discussing the comments made by the Dixie Chicks during their concert Saturday night in London. They 'reportedly' made the comment that they're "ashamed that Bush is from Texas" among other things.
Did a little digging and found the referenced thread on the Hollywood Halfwits page. Since I couldn't find any sign of it here on FR, I thought I'd see if anyone else had heard/knew more about it?
Speaking only for myself, I'm ashamed the Dixie Chicks are from America.

Yup.... more liberal celebrities take a dig at our country on the eve of war. The Chicks are not from Dixie!!!

All of the "ashamed" people were probably fine with having a lying rapist in the presidency.....so what is their opinion worth. Even the whole world saying that right is wrong and vice versa does not make it so.

On a recent Dixie Chicks special on CMT, either Martie or her sister said the original Dixie Chicks had performed at events for Texas Governor Bush on more than a few occasions.

Uh oh. Country music and anti-Americanism don't mix. Buh-bye gals.

I know many people here who used to love the dixie chicks. I know the idiotic statements they made will hurt concert and music sales here.

Simplest way is to not have anything to do with mass media of any kind. This is what I did a long time ago. No more keeping track of who's an American and who's a traitor. The whole thing is pretty much rotten anyway.

The Dixie Halfwits also dissed singer/songwriter Toby Keith's song The angry American AKA Courtesy of the Red White and Blue.
I thought they redeemed themselves by singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl without butchering it.
How disapointing. Now I must steal their music off the net instead of buying it.

Your recent derogatory comments in London regarding our president are disgraceful. I, my wife, and my daughters are from Texas. You wouldnt make a pimple on a Texans ass.
Has it occurred to you that we see you (entertainers in general) as trained monkeys we pay to entertain us? Part of that contract does not include having to listen to your liberal drivel. Pay attention to the organ grinder and keep dancing. Otherwise, - shut up.

My understanding is that they were invited to participate in the Bush inaugural but refused because they said they were Democrats. Natalie Maines, the lead singer, is apparently the one who spearheads all the leftist stuff. When Toby Keith released his post-9/11 song about America putting its collective boot up the *** of the terrorists, she did this interview against him where she recited the usual liberal blah-blah-blah that sounded like it came straight from the pages of Mother Jones, about how simplistic and biased and judgmental the song was, how we had to try to be understanding of the mindset that made people do that to us, etc. In other words, silly drivel. The libs are pretty much in control in Nashville these days. Oh, for the days of Faron Young and Marty Robbins (who cut a pro-Goldwater campaign song under an assumed name in '64).

I'm ashamed the Dixie Chicks are from America. Nice principled stand, it will cost them their careers. Stupid Ditzes, hope it was worth it. The Country Music market is not for cowards, communists, or other people ashamed of success.

The other night, at their opening for their tour in London, they indicated on stage that they were sad to know/hear that our President was from Texas. The opinion of Texans who only recently became aware of the fact that Bush is from Texas is of little import to me.
