"...on the eve of her visit today to an upstate arsenal that makes military hardware like mortars and howitzers for U.S. troops.

Naw, the motive is Hillary-ous.

I'm not surprised, since a large majority of Americans support the war. The Clintons are weather vanes who can't decide what shoes to wear without a public opinion poll.

By the endo of next week when we're in the mop-up stages it will have become her idea to go in to begin with.

Anything that a Clinton says is not to be interpreted in terms of ideology. They have no ideology except for political power.

She is the senator from New York, therefore she follows the policy of New Yorkers. Never mind that New York is "liberal", New York is very very angry for what happened on 911. They may not have voted for Bush, or like him. Right now that isn't the point.

Evil yes, stupid no. Hillary know which side her bread is buttered on.

Oh dear! If Hilary is supporting the war does that mean I now have to be against it?

A Free Republic post a couple of days ago reported that Rodham went on Irish TV to criticize Bush's war effort, so that she could be on the record as opposed but keep that record in her hip pocket until she needed it.

She uses the same rhetoric as our Diane Feinstein here in CA. At least we always know where commies like Barbara Boxer stand, but politicians like Feinstein and Rodham-Clinton are much more dangerous.

No, she, like other democrats, are beginning to manover themselves into the right position so their political fallout, after a successful Iraq invasion, will be minimal.

Did you not hear Sen. Biden say, '"we" scored a big coup on Al-Quida', with the capture of Seik Mohammad? When they (democrats) think they can score points by being negative toward the Bush administration they will say, "they", excluding themselves. But when it looks like Bush might be right and turns a big trick like Seik Mohammad, then they say, "we", wishing to appear that they've been there all along.

"Sen. Clinton fully supports the steps the president has taken to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction," said Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines.

I don't think that people are parsing that statement closely enough. The way that I read the statement, it is not at all in support of President Bush's preparations to go to war against Saddam, even though that is how the article writer mistakenly interpreted it. Instead, that statement is full of weasel words, permitting Hillary to move in any and all directions later on - for example, if anything goes wrong with the war, she can say "I supported him when he was working through the UN inspection process to disarm Iraq, but it was a mistake for him to unilaterally declare war against Iraq without getting the approval of the UN". So, read the statement again - it falls considerably short of giving true support for the Bush policies, and instead is just another Clinton trick.

Why is everyone scared of Hillary? If a Republican can't beat Hillary Clinton for President, who the heck >CAN< they beat? War talk aside, she will accumulate a near-Boxer level voting record by 2008, and I don't see the Clinton name getting more popular in "red" America.

There's a good chance she won't even be around to run. 2006 is going to be a BLOODY year in New York for the Democrats. You cannot believe for one second that Eliot Spitzer will be allowed to waltz into the governor's nomination -- this may be the year that the white liberal / minority alliance collapses altogether. The economy will be booming again, the new tower will be rising over Ground Zero, George Pataki will have raised $100 million for his campaign against Hillary, and Giuliani will have raised another $100 million running for Governor against whatever mess is on the other side of the ballot. (I see Schumer as very solid next year, alas, enough so that nobody serious, to say the least of Giuliani, takes him on.)
