If an airliner were to go unresponsive to calls from controllers and it had been deemed to have been hijacked, the plane wouldn't within 40 miles of Pearl Harbor.

IMO, this is just another wild rumor....but geographically, keep mind that Honolulu airport is very, very close to Pearl - maybe 5 miles? Something would have to happen right after takeoff.

Another interesting point - Hono is one of the very few commercial airports that is "shared" with the military. Having flown in and out of their probably a dozen times, it's a hoot watching the little fighters taxiing right along with the 747's.

St Louis and Santa Fe are good places to see fun planes as well. Battery dead....signing off.
