Rather's Interview With The Enemy

Dan Rather interviewed Saddam Hussein in Baghdad, and he was not arrested on his return to America. Amazing. Try that in other countries of the world. What a great country we live in!

Imagine the reverse occurring with equal impunity. Iraq's version of Rather conducts an interview with President Bush at the White House; it is viewed by all of the Middle East. Then the anchor returns to Baghdad, enters freely and discusses his scoop on "Good Morning Iraq." I don't think so.

The interview can be seen as historical, dont ya know. And may well have been, had it offered any insight at all.

The one thing that stood out to me during the interview was when Blather continually referred to Sadamm as President Huessein. Funny, Blather never refers to our President as President, only to Bush or Mr. Bush.

This reminds me of a time when Bill Clinton made his way across Europe, from Britain to the USSR arranging anti-American war protests in 1968. He wrote to his draft board, Col. Holmes, that he "loathed the military" and thought he was too good to serve in the armed forces.

Yes, our country has a lot of tolerance for people that dance and whore for the enemy, but even as we tolerate it, it does not stop the tide of disdain and disrepect to flow deep and wide for their unprincipled actions.

Just the fact that Rather addresses Saddam as "Mr. President", and addresses Bush as "Mr. Bush" tells clearly where Rather's allegiances lie.

He is allegiace was clear simply from the fact that Saddam would allow him access.

And I will never forget Baghdad Danny's stint with the Taliban and the pics with arm around Castro. To me, these three events say all that needs to be said about Baghdad Danny.

I don't know if anybody else here read Rather's piece about this interview, published on the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal a couple of days ago.

I think Rather, anti-American and useful idiot that he is, suddenly realized in the middle of the interview that he was being used by Saddam. He described Saddam as sitting there calculating his (Saddam's) every word and observing Rather's reaction like a hawk. He mentioned that Saddam is clearly a public relations genius (like Hitler, who also had that same horrible gift for manipulating public opinion) and this is one of the secrets of his control.

I was surprised that old Dan was this aware. Not that it will stop him from being a blathering idiot, of course, but it was interesting to see that even he realized that Saddam was playing him.

I'll bet that Sadamm thought to himself during the interview with the traitorous Rather:If I had a newsman like this in my Iraq I would give him a whiff of Anthrax Powder, a sniff of serin, followed by a chaser of botulism tea. Then I would have my henchmen rip out his vile tongue.

I bet Sadamm despises such traitorous activity by Rather, but used Rather just the same?

or maybe because there was a guy behind the curtain pointing a gun at Rather's head making sure that he showed him respect!
