They have to take the straight before they can take Taiwan. They don't have the seafaring capability to do either, yet.
You could be right. But I don't think China is going to move on this one, because, if nothing else, it doesn't want all of North Korea flooding its borders as refugees (from the counter attack).
I think NK is going to make a move, but I don't think China is going to support it, simply because NK actions could be a major domestic problem for them.
In ten years, Taiwan will be begging China for reunification.
Simple facts:
China's economy is like this: (zooming hands way up to the ceiling)
... and Taiwan's economy is like this (dropping hands to ankle-high)
In ten years, China's economy will have them seeing Taiwan as the sea-borne rockpile that it is. It might even be *China* that doesn't want to reunify.
Anyone who believes that China wants war with the US is someone who thinks that they want to tear 75% of their economy off and throw it in the trash. China is really enjoying their economy right now, and is smart enough not to screw it up. If they have a fault, it's that they'll sell almost anything to almost anyone for almost any reason.
Until someone can show me differently, fearing the military actions of China during the Gulf War a lot of Anti-Chinese paranoia.
I'm willing to listen, though.
In my fictional account, it turns into a very nasty world war. I'm justy finishing volume III for release next month.
I pray it doesn't go that way.
If so,...then,...China AND NK,...and Canada and Cuba,... launches'...ON the U.S.A.,.....right?
:-(
