They freaked. Couldn't handle it. Over Pat Metheny??? What was the problem, no 4/4 dance beat? No easy bass line to follow? No ragged-voiced cretin singing about how life sucks?
I fear for the future of music with such shallow audiences these days.
What I've found over the years was that the vast majority of people just don't want to hear anything that isn't all over the radio or played at clubs, etc. Nothing different than the homogenized pap readily available at any fine shopping establishment.
