Just got off the phone with Firebrand. The NYPD is jerking us around as usual. We are allowed to go through only on 40th street and will have to converge at the corner of 41st street and 1st avenue.I am updating the hotline 917-387-8865 of any changes.
I will try to post with my pocket pc from the location as soon as I get there. Getting in my car and will try to drive into Manhattan.

I wish my route home had taken me by Columbus Circle. That would have been a sight to see! It would have been nice to see a BOMB IRAQ sign in the middle of that scene of idiocy.
I came in from the Lincoln Tunnel and crossed over on 41st St. The first time I saw signs/posters was mid-town. Most were by moving people, headed for their anti-site, but over on the East side ---- away from the moving masses, I saw people just standing on corners holding huge anti-signs.
Right now I feel that I was a 'bar of soap' among the unwashed! HeeHee!

It will be a small miracle as they're the only network I couldn't reach by fax. If they cover us, it's due to a marvelous freeper using 'back door methods' lol.Fox5, the NYC affiliate, was there filming us for a bit. So maybe they can send the footage over to the network. :)

I took the M15 all the way uptown and had the joy of being surrounded by all the gray grannies and undermedicated freaks from the Lower East Side and the East Village who were going to protest against this great nation and freedom.
One saw me pull out my rally flyer so that I could call the hotline to check on late changes and then asked to see the "rally flyer," as she called it. I asked which rally, and she seemed kind of confused at the thought of there being another one. So when I politely informed her that it was for a different rally, she asked which one, so I just kind of blurted out "The pro-America one" and she just grinned like an idiot. When I got off the bus at 1st & 34th, she even tapped me on the arm and wished me good luck.
It's a shame that the commies and America-haters are using ignorant people with probably decent intentions for their devious (and deviant) purposes.

Wonderful photos of today's doings! I knew Doctor Raoul would come up with a zinger of a sign.
RaceBannon - you look magnificent in the photo. HUGS back at you. So sorry I couldn't make the trip and get my hugs in person. Great job.
BRAVO to all FReepers and to the other 1,000+ people who stood up for America, our commander-in-chief and our troops!!!!

There have been reports of sporadic violence amongst the anti-war crowdI like the irony of that. Kind of reminds me of the days when I was covering college basketball and one coach started yelling about the other team: "They're not showing any f---ing class!" :D

The pictures are great! And so quick??
Would that bimbo dare take that 'classy' sign to Baghdad?
BTW - I see American flags in the pictures with the Patriots. None with the Antis!
When I was out on the streets, there also were no American flags ---- just my own 'stars and stripes' scarf flowing in the breeze.

Pass it on
A reporter at the UN just reported that the Manhattan protests got nowhere *near* the 100,000 they were predicting, big empty holes in the specified protest area, and sporadic arrests. It's already broken up because they never got to critical mass. A total failure! 1 posted on 02/15/2003 3:13 PM EST by Dont Mention the War

The first batch of pics (and I have a TON more -- filled up an entire 16MB Smart Media card) went up so fast because I went home not long after leaving the rally around 1 p.m. and started running them through PhotoShop. :)
The Great Unwashed (literally) had some flags -- but they were altered with peace signs in white stars in the blue corner and other blasphemies.

I thought you were still at McFadden's and could meet with the other demonstrators uptown. Thanks again for the photos and glad you're feeling better.

Good! Not reaching the masses expected might be understood if the weather had been snowy, but twarn't the case! TeeHee! It seems that there were fewer crowds, also, in other countries.
There were a lot of people on NY's East side, but if the crowds had been allowed to use both sides of the street, their impact would have been lessened.

My dad and I left around 1 p.m. because my feet were frozen and in serious pain, and it was when the police were sending us back to First Avenue, where there was nobody to see or hear us. And since I wanted to get some pics up here ASAP, I came home. :)

Your dad attended? How great is that! Kudos to all who braved the cold and the terrorist warnings to get our message heard. You do us proud.
Racebannon, your jacket doesn't look warm enough. Sincerely, mother hen!

Yeah, he comes to the same pro-military/pro-America rallies that I do because he also believes in the importance of showing our support. He, my mom and my uncle went to a pro-U.S./support-the-military rally back in 1969, when the anti-war creeps were at their worst.

The permits are first-come, first-serve and they are free. I don't know of any permits that were denied except in instances where security is an issue or big public events have already reserved the Mall.
