Better than the McDonald's Cup (paraphrase)
Better that than "The Wonderbra Cup".
Hey, they like to call McDonalds McY-D's
Let's call it the "D Cup"!

As a season ticket holder at Texas Motor Speedway, since it's infamous opening date, and a lifelong speedfreak. Even having done a bit of Motocrossing and Enduro work earlier in life, I very much understand where these guys come from.
There will always be a sponsor, because as just with NASA, we must always go faster and further than we have before.
Coors or Bud or Miller or etc, is more than willing to jump in.
The fuel story kind of struck a personal tone, as back in my youth, we popped a telecom manhole cover and found about six inches of gasoline floating on top of the usual murk.
The station across the street was eventually shut down and replaced by a...McDonalds.

It's news to me that Union 76 is still selling gas somewhere. One place they used to do so was a truck stop at exit 109B of I-95 in Elkton, MD. About 7 or 8 years ago Unocal pulled out of Elkton. TA (TravelAmerica?) now owns/franchises that truck stop, which competes with the Petro truck stop at exit 109A, i.e., across the interchange from TA.

For those with long memories...there was a time it was just called Grand National Stock Car Racing...the top division of NASCAR.

Of course that was a simpler time when seeing any auto racing on television was considered a treat.

I remember when they bought the Pure chain, and then ran it into the ground (although not nearly as quickly as BP ran through the Sinclair stations they bought).

Let's call it the "D Cup"! Might not be a bad nickname for Bristol, either.

I'm glad to hear that. Going to NASCAR races just wouldn't be the same without the Winston hotties giving away free smokes.
