PING! Space Shuttle Columbia explodes on re-entry!

Thanks for the ping. I watched this shuttle take off just over a week ago from our backyard and even took pictures because it was such a beautiful day.
I am in shock...

My brother woke me up with a phone call and told me that the Columbia was 5 minutes late on landing. The shuttle runs on a schedule down to no more than 1 or 2 seconds of variation at any moment of the mission. I knew immediately that she was lost. What a horribly sad day.

BTW, the posters at DU are incredibly disgusting. They have a thread up right now saying outright that Bush did this to steer away his problems.

why do I have the feeling that this is the only thing we will be talking about for the next week? I'll go on a freeper vacation and come back when the cameras are back on Iraq (like when the human eating sharks breathed sighs of relief when 9-11 happened)
