I could have sworn the back end was towards the camera and the pointy end was facing the other direction and I'm not sure any camera can get distorted that much. Not only that, does anyone know what the time correlation was in regards to lost contact and that particular shot. I would be willing to bet that not even NASA knows that yet.

I have to defer to people who have a better understanding of how video equipment works -- When I first saw that image, I thought it was a view of a sideways space shuttle, too.
