I hope Freepers and DUers can get along on this one. It is a national, even a global, tragedy. This was an accident, plain and simple. There are a few nuts at DU that are formulating their conspiracy theories, just as there are here at FreeRepublic. Neither, I believe, are representative of either forum. Peace. May God have mercy on the brave seven astronauts of Columbia.

Great post.
Yes, there are a few trying to fight the good fight over there.

The problem at DU is that the conspiracy theorists are the mainstream there. One of the first threads over there was warning people that this probably wasn't Bush's fault. The fact that they had to say that speaks volumes.

This was an accident, plain and simple. It's too soon to say it's an accident or terrorism. I know we like to have certainty in our lives, but sometimes we must put up with ambiguity until the evidence can be examined and the truth can be determined.

Glad you recognize some of your fellow DUmmies are way over the mark here. Thank you for making this friendly gesture--I'm pretty sure you made history with it today...

Thank you for that post -- you are right -- prayers for the lost astronauts and for their families/loved ones

May God have mercy on the brave seven astronauts of Columbia. A fitting FReeper name, OliveBranch....thank you for extending your sympathies and sharing your desire that we, each one of us, remember, we are ALL Americans and unite behind this, yet another, tragedy. May God be with our entire Country.

Eternal rest grant unto them, oh Lord, and may Perpetual Light shine upon them. May their souls rest in peace. Amen.
