GW said he took the Hussein issue to the UN because he "wanted the UN to be something other than an empty debating society". I think he said it to illustrate their impotence and ineffectiveness in confronting military action when needed.

We know exactly what he said. He's a pro-UN internationalist just like his father. He has no concern for his country's sovereignty. Just ask President Fox.

Right, but I repeat, what is Bush's objective in confronting the UN in that manner? To try to inspire them to do more? More involvement? Actual international (i.e. one world government)?
