I heard this rumor from Air Forces sources on the 11th, on the 12th no one was talking about it at all. For what its worth.

I love the way the government always dismisses these witnesses.

Sounds alot like what they did when that jet went down over the Atlantic. Flight 800 I believe. People said they saw missle like trails going up towards the plane.

Musta been solar-flares. /sarcasm

why is this "unthinkable"? Would they prefer to think that a couple thousand people in Washington be dead? Shanksville is not far from Washington: ten or fifteen minutes by air. If attacked, the pilots would have crashed the plane.

And some would say that they might have taken it back. Well, maybe. Or maybe with the scuffle the plane might have crashed in Hagersville or even in a populated Washington suburb.

finally, nearly all plane crashes have eye witnesses who later see a missle, and witnesses who see the plane explode. Including many where there was no question of terrorism. Eyewitnesses are notoriously vague.

TWA 800 witnesses were therefore ignored (what was chilling in that case was not witnesses but radar data and a videotape that showed a missle).

The thing to worry about is that the jets who went to intercept the plane DID NOT HAVE MISSLES ON THEM. They were for routine flying, not defense. The pilots were interviewed and said they would have had to shoot the plane down the old fashioned way, or do a kamikaze attack.

There WERE military planes hustling to the scene, that has long since been reported and the pilots interviewed on television. I saw this interview on one of the first year anniversary shows. The additional problem was that the only planes they had in the vicinity were unarmed. If ordered to take down 93, they would have had to crash into it! Frankly I think the truth is a whole lot more interesting than this stupid rumor mill garbage.

I don't like all this tinfoil John.

The reason United Flight 11 crashed was because it was hijacked by murdering Islamic terrorists.

I am not saying another aircraft was not in the vicinity before or after the crash--there probably was. As to the truth of a "Learjet type white plane"--I am not sure what the witnesses saw. The Air Force does fly Lear 35's in a version called the C-21--and it is white. I know--I used to fly the C-21. They are unarmed and used for DV transport.

But this kind of thing distracts from our real enemy---Islamic fanatics.

Those innocent people didn't die because of crop circles, UFOs, or missiles as far as I know. The died because of Islamic hate for Israel, America, and freedom.

Knowing who took down Flight 800 might change things. Knowing who took down Flight 93 won't. One flight was doomed, the other wasn't.

Yep...Leave it to WorldNetDaily to represent the KOOKS of society yet again.

I can't believe these clowns get so much play on Free Republic. They are an embarrassment to conservatives and Republicans.

I guess I may have missed some earlier discussions of the "shoot down" theory, but I have been wondering how long it would take before the "tin foil" theorists came along with this one.

No one will ever know, so we will all get to make choices in what we individual want to believe.

I choose in believing it was the heroic action of Mr. Boehmer and his fellow citizens that kept the Islamists from their appointed target.

It would be better if it were shot down. At least that shows we did something to fight back. The passengers were dead either way, so whether the government did it is wholly irrelevant, except that it may have saved more lives by having it go down in an empty field. If the President ordered it he was right, but why it would be a secret is beyond me. The fact that it may have been shot down so close to Three Mile Island is the truly creepy part, personally I think that that's where it was headed, but we'll never know.

When I found it had crashed, I assumed it had been shot down.

And frankly, I think if any one of us were in charge that day, and knew that 3 planes had already been used as bombs, and that the people on that one were doomed already (plenty of phone calls from them saying they'd been hijacked), we'd have made the call to shoot down the plane too.

And then probably had nightmares about the decision for years afterwards.

"I heard this real loud noise coming over my head," he told the Mirror. "I looked up and it was Flight 93, barely 50 ft. above me. It was coming down in a 45 degree and rocking from side to side. Then the nose suddenly dipped and it just crashed into the ground. There was this big fireball and then a huge cloud of smoke."

This is either a fabrication or gross exaggeration. If it was "barely 50 ft above" him and coming down at a 45 degree angle, it would have crashed 50ft away from him in a fraction of a second. Hardly enough time to see "rocking" and a sudden dipping of the nose. Toss this eyewitness report in the garbage.

Describing the plane as a Lear-jet type, with engines mounted near the tail and painted white with no identifying markings, Decker said, "If you were here to see it, you'd have no doubt.

No Air Force plane looks anything like a Lear. None of them have their engines mounted near the tail. They're not painted white; they're gray (or rarely desert brown). They all have some identifying markings.

Yes, I have no doubt; this guy's full of sh!t.

If it did, so be it, it was the right decision. If it didn't, so be it, brave men fought to the death so that other American's wouldn't die.

<< ..... if the plane would not divert ... as a last resort, our pilots were authorized to "take them out." Now, people say, you know, that's a horrendous decision to make. Well, it is. You've got an airplane full of American citizens, civilians, captured by ... terrorists, headed and are you going to, in fact, shoot it down, obviously, and kill all those Americans on board?

"... It's a presidential-level decision, and the president made, I think, exactly the right call in this case, to say, "I wished we'd had combat air patrol up over New York." >>

If my country's feral gummint, at any level, wants me to accept that it can order the Armed Forces of The United States Of America to kill me and my fellow Americans then I insist it get the hell out of my way and stop impeding my God-Given Right to own and carry the means to defend myself. Had the United States Of America's Constitution been observed on September 11 2001, the only people dead would have been the 19 islamanazi savages my country's feral gummint; at what, for eight awful years, passed for its highest level; effectively aided and abetted in their murderously barbaric attack upon US. Tough? I can handle that.

No big surprise if it was shot down.

Last I heard, it's STILL our government's policy in the event of another highjacking.

Heaven forbid if we let pilots and passengers arm themselves.

...they saw a second plane flying erratically within minutes of the crash of the Boeing 757...

Flying at better than 1000 MPH, that military aircraft could have arrived from a long way off in minutes...

More blame America conspiracy theory propaganda...

I heard that the Titanic was really sunk by a nuclear powered iceberg run by the US Naval Academy, in an unfortunate training accident that has been hushed up at the highest levels of government. We know the government lies all the time, so this story MUST be true.
