Acceptance to institutions of higher learning should be based strictly on the merit of educational achievementWhich is why the President got into Yale based upon its "legacy admissions policy."

Which is why the President got into Yale based upon its "legacy admissions policy." That's one of those 'two wrongs make a right' arguments, isn't it?

Yale is a privately funded institution of higher learning, with an endowment in excess of $10 billion. Since Yale receives no public funding, they have every right to create their own admission policy and standards. The University of Michigan is a publically funded institution that uses tax payer dollars and is held to a different set of standards.
